Margaret Switala
Visual Artist

Short Bio

Margaret's journey as an artist began at age of fifteen when she won her first provincial students art award.

She has attended Red River College for Advertising Arts and also has taken advanced oil painting lessons at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

Her preferred medium is oil paints, but occasionally works in pastels and mixed media. Although she is known for her surrealism paintings (thinking outside the box), she also enjoys still life studies and prairie scenes.

In Winnipeg she has exhibited in several galleries and local art shows over the years. She was represented at Grolle Fine Art Gallery in the downtown area, where she also assisted for Mr. Grolle. While with this gallery, she helped arrange for an international Art Exhibition to Poland with other local artists.

Margaret has participated in international art exhibitions both group and solo over the years. She has also received grants from the Manitoba Arts Council and Winnipeg Arts Council for further artistic development.

Her artwork can be found in private collections across Canada, Europe and USA.
